We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team as the Manager of our Emergency Department. This critical leadership role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the ED, ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care, and fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong clinical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of nursing practice in accordance with Washington state regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Clinical Leadership:
- Provide clinical guidance and support to ED nursing staff.
- Ensure adherence to established nursing policies, procedures, and standards of care.
- Monitor patient care and ensure compliance with Washington State's nursing practice act.
- Oversee the administration of medications and treatments, ensuring accuracy and safety.
- Management and Supervision:
- Manage staffing levels and assignments to ensure adequate coverage.
- Supervise and evaluate nursing staff performance.
- Facilitate team communication and collaboration.
- Address and resolve patient and staff concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Quality and Safety:
- Implement and monitor quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with infection control and safety protocols.
- Participate in unit-based and hospital-wide quality assurance activities.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including those relating to EMTALA.
- Professional Development:
- Promote and support the professional development of nursing staff.
- Stay current with advancements in emergency care and nursing practice.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Washington.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an Emergency Department setting.
- Minimum of 5 years of nursing management or supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of Washington State's Nursing Practice Act.
- Excellent clinical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Washington State Considerations:
- Familiarity with Washington state nursing regulations.
- Knowledge of regulations regarding nurse staffing within Washington state.
- Knowledge of EMTALA regulations.
- Awareness of the unique needs of the patient population served in Washington state.
